Good guide. Its not going to get you to the hidden places and the hole in the walls but its a great place to start when you are planning your trip. I would definitely double check all recommended places with a Trip Adviser or Yelp as some of the "Best places to eat" have horrible ratings online and I am not sure how they got in the book.
I got this book to prepare for a month long study abroad in Salzburg. It became my Bible. It was small enough to fit inside my cross-body purse and I carried it EVERYWHERE. The content was organized by region and within each region it contained maps of major cities. In each city it gives information about recommended sites as well as the price (helpful for a college student on a tight budget). For many sites it also tells you what bus number or train route you should take it get there. The guide also contains historical and cultural information about the country (such as polite tipping, greetings, etc). I will definitely be buying another guide from this company for my next trip!
Very helpful guide. I found the Rick Steves book to be a little Limited in information in some of the city's I was visiting. This book covers it better.
Lots about Vienna, including a fold-out map. This was the only Austria-only travel book I could locate on Amazon.com. Lots on where to eat and inexpensive accommodations. I did not search for travel to sites of famous composers, which is of importance to me, but I will not be in Austria until the late summer to fall, 2019.
Better than the rick Steve’s book on Austria. Covers more hiking and things.
This book was a gift and the recipient loved it, found it super informative and great references for planning a trip. My mom, who was born there loves reading it, she said " I learn things about my. country I didn't know!"
