Outstanding!!!!!!!
First, the optics.......This is a beautiful book, inside and out. The publisher has gone full-out with this one, beginning with a unique wrap-around cover made of several examples of decorative papers.....a treat for the target audience. Namely, the paper addicts. This book documents a singular historic archive of papers, both humble and rare; a reminder that "ephemera" is anything-but momentary. Many of the pages are full-bleed examples of historic papers, beautifully reproduced on paper stock that is matte-but-not-murky. As one turns the pages, there is a feeling of exploration and discovery; a suitable mix of stunning visuals and intelligent text. The next time I hear someone talk about the "demise of hard cover books", in favor of digital/on-screen volumes, I will refer them to this book. From the solid covers adorned in tactilefolded examples of decorative papers, to the kindred and illuminating photos and text -- this is a book that will remind you why you love BOOKS.
