It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but it did fill in a lot of blanks that were missing in the other books. I gave it a 4 because some of the stories should have explained the character much better or less but not everyone has read his books so it's understood . Don't get me wrong johnathan maberry is a very talented writer and could out write me in a heart beat but I feel he wasn't explaining things enough. I love his books and will continue to read them I amean looking forward to what happens to Benny and Chong just everyone. I still very much enjoyed reading the book. But not everyone reads graphic novels so I will not be continuing if they are graphic novels. But he has other books that tie into this story I'd lover to know more about dark of night. I know it's tied in I just can't wait for his next masterpiece of both books

This book is so exciting. There are quite a few new and interesting characters in this one. The reapers seem to be an even bigger danger than in previous installments of the series. More fighters seem to be emerging from different places too. Ican't wait for the next book to come out. This story is getting super intense.

I have read most of Jonathan Maberry books and have yet to discover one I did not like. If you read them carefully you will see characters in one series cross over to another series. I enjoy that tremendously.

This book got me going in yocto. I had five books before this one, but this is the one that I turn to. Yocto is a HUGE subject and I am amazed Rudy was able to touch on all aspects. Its not comprehensive. That is not possible in book form for yocto, but it covers the main parts with enough detail that you can begin to understand the online documentation and examples. With that said, I absolutely loathe the online docs. How Rudy could transform those into workable material is impressive.FWIW, I met Rudy for the first time at a conference. He helped me out some with my code and he told me about this book. I bought it just to be nice, but I was pleasantly surprised at its quality. I hope to meet him again so I can get him to sign it.

The embedded Linux development world is still growing rapidly, and changing just as rapidly. This is obvious to anyone who has tried to find up-to-date information about it on the Internet. Writing a book about it, and binding the book in hardback, is a dicey proposition, because the book will be obsolete before it hits the bookstores.However, having said that, this book does a great job of collecting all of today's relevant information about OE and Yocto and putting it in one place. You can start with a single-board computer like a Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone (those are just two examples), and end up with a working Linux OS after just a few chapters. I highly recommend working through the entire book, in order to develop an intermediate or advanced knowledge of OE, Yocto, and BitBake, the essential tool at the center of it all.The authors acknowledge that some of the content may age rapidly, and they point the user to sources to find updated information. Some readers may argue (correctly) that everything in the book is available for free on the Internet, or (arguably) that the Yocto Project Mega-Manual contains more information than this book contains. But if you want enough information, in one place AND easy to find, to successfully make your first Yocto build and the dozens of variations you will make afterwards, this book may be just what you're looking for.p.s. While Packt offers books and e-books with titles similar to this book's title, I think that this one is superior to Packt's offerings. I say that reluctantly, since I own several Packt books as well. This one's just better.

I've been writing Yocto recipes for a year or so now. I felt comfortable doing recipes, but a little shaky on doing stuff like setting up a new BSP. This book had some great background information, and also introduced some parts of Yocto that I didn't even know existed (the SDK generator, for example).Some of the information is a little outdated - at the time of this writing, the "build appliance" described in 2.1 doesn't exist any more, and neither does the Hob tool described in 7.6 (and other places). The "depexp" dependency explorer also doesn't exist any more.I wish the book had a little more on building new BSPs from scratch. It talks about how to pull down a vendor's BSP and tweak it, but doesn't have much about to build your very own (how to set the system C compiler, how to configure your target flags, etc).Overall though it was a very helpful book for me, and fleshed out some areas of Yocto that were shaky for me. Worth a read if you're using Yocto professionally and have some gaps in your knowledge.

Complexity of Yocto can be intimidating if you approach it from wrong angle: trying to create someting without understanding the foundation, trying to understand overall workflow without knowing what basic tasks and building blocks are. You can find tutorials on how to create bootable image or simple recipe but they mostly leave you as much puzzled as before plus one bootable image or one hello world binary.This book provides clear, coherent story on what Yocto is, what its basic concepts are, what are the typical problems solved by the project, what are the tasks developers face and how they're handled in Yocto's workflow. Whether you're trying to adopt Yocto for hobby project, estimate if it would be a good fit for your organization, or have new developers joining Yocto-based project this book, IMHO, is the best on the topic there is.

Clearly written and comprehensive. The author obviously has deep knowledge of the subject matter.

This book had good reviews, which is why I bought it. It has the same problem a lot of self help books do. It spends a lot of time talking about how useful the book is, without telling you information to prove it. Lots of nearly meaningless lists that can be over a page long. And I'm not talking check lists. It is like Bubba listing every sort of shrimp food item.Otherwise it is fine in a general way, but lacks on hard specifics. Someone asked me what the secret is to Successful Event Planning, (As the title says) and I could only respond, "The plan itself". I really couldn't pin point anything from the book that was particularly special.

I had just started reading it but I can already see the usefulness of this book. unfortunately I have the Kindle version and it did not come with a companion CD. Is there any way to access the files or download them from somewhere so I will have them?

I don't know how this woman calls herself an event planner when she obviously hasn't ever written for public relations. Her writing is poor, repetitive, and hard to understand. I'm sure there are good skills for event planning throughout, but I couldn't get past chapter 3 due to the horrid grammar.

Brillant book I am so delighted with it. There is lots of helpful guidance that has helped me yo shape my business.

This author does a great job explaining most all of the aspects of a Camino - whether the start is St. Jean Pied do Port (which I did last summer), or the Portugese Route (which I'm planning to do this year or next)Great read, plus good maps

After trying to muddle through this book and getting more confused the more I read as to which of the Portugues routes we would be following, I gave up and bought Cicerone's Camino Portugues which I should have done to begin with. Wasted my money on this one.

It's not lost on you, reading Gierach, that he attained a degree in Philosophy many moons ago. Like all the Gierach I've read, (which would be all his output), Fisherman Are Liers never disappoints. Gierach has an eye not only for the fishing, but for the place, the world, and the broad spectrum of fishermen. He'll describe, in some technical detail, fly fishing, but also knows and notes the species of tree, bird and critter around him.The author is, by his own admission, fairly reclusive these days; nonetheless, were you so fortunate as to run into him on a river or lake, a float plane or an airport, I have no doubt you'd recognize the gleam in his eye, and be treated to a bit of the joy, reflection, and passion he infuses his work with every. If you've not read Gierach, you've got a treat ahead. Start with Trout Bum and work your way forward; you can thank me later.

After reading several of Gierach's books I thought I would give All Fishermen Are Liars a shot. I was not disappointed. Very colorful and articulate writing takes the reader on countless journeys fixing for several species of fish that keep your interest and inspire you to seek similar adventures. But it and enjoy!!!

I started reading his books when I first moved to Colorado in 1992. I've read them all pretty much in order and own them all (except his anthology of other works). All I can say is this is classic Gierach, "the Mark Twain of fly fishing", as someone wrote.In his early books he wrote about his clapped out pickup truck and working class house, and doing odd jobs to help pay the mortgage. and support his fly fishing habit. in the first chapter of this book he broke me up with this: "For instance the accountant who now handles your taxes says that if some of his other self -employed clients saw what you legitimately write off-fly rods, travel, fishing lodges, guide tips, etc.-they'd s*** a brick."Well, he may have moved up in life, but his feet are sill planted firmly on a stream bed.

Gierach is unquestionably one of the modern fly fishing era's more popular writers. He earned that title with a stream of books that divulged his candid opinion of many fishing related topics. This book does not exhibit his unvarnished look at issues but it seems a bit protective of his sources, venues; a step back from previous efforts. I like this author and this book but it seems to be the effort of a writer who is tired or has become protective of his privacy. Given Gierach's popularity I can understand his attitudinal change but his latest book is not the same. It is like reading his previous work through some sort of filter.

Another great collection of stories by Mr. Gierach. The first story in the book is obviously autobiographical, and I couldn't help but wonder as I read it if this may be John's final "book." I sure hope not. The book is story telling and word crafting at it's best. I can't find words to do it justice. For those who have not yet read any of John's books, and are not sure if the genre is right for them, don't hesitate, get this book. The stories are entertaining, and are about "things" most people can relate to. As an added bonus, there are tidbits of fishing wisdom and know-how that either reinforces what is already known to be true, or informs of things not yet fully learned.

Great quality book! one star off because I thought it was a little boring. I'm not an avid fly fisherman. Theres nothing better than fishing for me. But this is more about the experience of fly fishing than actually stories about catching fish. A kind of rambling on that an old fisherman would do. Not my style but I still enjoyed it! I'm more into deep sea angling and catching rod bending halibut. This author is all about the rod bending of a 3wt fly rod.

I have most of John's books and always enjoy escaping to the field in his stories. I land up reading them many times over the years, much the same as you might treat your favorite poems. If I had any bone-to-pick with him it would be that he has been known to repeat some of his stories in his different books. He has probably got two or three books with the some stories repeated from previous books. I think that if you buy a book of short stories from an author you deserve to get all new stories. I don't believe that this happened in "All Fishermen Are Liars", so thanks to John for that . As far as the stories go, they just start running together, in much the same way as would happen if you were sitting around a campfire listening to someone who traveled around the world and fished, tell one adventure after another until you get sleepy then you just excuse yourself and hit the sac. That is pretty much what they are the best for, so I read them when I go to bed. It does leave you feeling nice when you doze off.

This is the second book I have read by this author. I believe he is someone who could write a blog about his every day and it would be good reading. Unfortunately others who blog or tweet regularly don't have his skills. The book would be interesting to anyone with and interest in fly fishing, being outdoors, or being around interesting people.
