I was really excited to read this book going in. The cover is amazing and the blurb sounded awesome! I was not disappointed in the story and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I will say, I thought the first few chapters seemed a little slow and I found myself wondering where exactly the story was headed. I found myself wondering if all the kids in the School for the Different were dragon shifters and I was pleasantly surprised as the story went on as to what everyone ended up being. I think this story really picked up for me after Tala and her friends met up with Axel, and can I just say, "yum"? I really enjoyed reading about dedication to the friendships built in this story as well. So often a story becomes just about the romance, but this was really about friends. I'm so excited to see what adventures the gang gets up to in the next book and what other supernatural races might come to join the party!
Tala and her friends are orphans; as such, they find themselves in an institution: The School For The Different. Drugged and dazed, they watch as one by one their fellow students “leave†or “graduateâ€, never to be seen again. Tala, Demi and Tian are constantly in trouble with the staff, breaking the rules and out after curfew. But Tala has a knowing; something isn’t right at the school… not to mention the strange voice in her head … “Burn them, burn them all…â€Desperate to escape, the three friends discuss and discard many plans; that is, until the day their friend Jeremy is taken to The Room. Then all bets are off….Riveting! This book grabbed my attention from the first sentence! Action packed with twists and turns and a merging of mythology with magic that’s unique and fresh! Loved every sentence! Can’t wait
I am truly AMAZED that this is a first novel. I don't know when the second comes out but I really hope that it's soon. I didn't know what to expect when I read the description before I purchased this book but I didn't think that it would be as good as it was. I hope the second book comes out soon and is as good as this first book. It has everything, action, suspense, romance and a lot of questions. I have read a lot of books but this one is really something special. I am not going to give away any of the plots because I really hate when reviewers give the secrets of a book in their reviews. This is a wonderful book and it has everything, Do yourself a huge favor and purchase this book...
I liked the story. It had an interesting premise. The only thing that annoys me is an instant romance. I feel no growth within the characters and I honestly wasn't that interested in what happened to them. I think this story is for the younger crowd who would appreciate it more and that is why I rated it 4 instead of 3 stars.
I liked this story very much. At first it was a little confusing but smoothed out after a few pages. Progression was good as was the building of characters. The story line was different than most of the recent "school" stories. Also I like an actual ending (with possibilities) rather than the typical buying chapters kind of story. Good job!
The coming of age story as a first novel can be hard to pull off. This author finessed it wonderfully. Glad to see there more coming.
This book really kept my interest. I enjoyed the Gods of Olympus helping the bewbies. Thanks for writing this movel.
