Places on the Planet. Not necessarily popular. And I'm not even sure those places. For example Yosemite: if it's the home of rock climbing (and what does that mean exactly?) why not use a picture of rock faces instead of a bushy waters edge? The text is the only caption for the images and they are disjointed. Additionally, the pictures are nice, but do not reveal many truly striking images. Instead they focus more on scenic nature shots of trees and rolling hills.I received this product at discount for my honest testing and review. My aim is to highlight features and drawbacks that I would want to know about as a buyer, not hype the product for the manufacturer. My remarks are sincere and my own. I'm fascinated by travelling around the world, and I enjoy letting my son learn more about places across the globe.PROS:- It lists a lot of different places from around the world. This gives a lot of ideas for popular landmarks and places to visit, if you enjoy traveling.- The images are very pretty and nice to look at. Crisp and bright.CONS:- The book could use an additional round of editing (one particular line reads "...because its tiny than the usual park."- Information on the actual places are very short, not giving enough details. It lists the name of the place, and 1 sentence telling about it.- Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't appear that the images are actually the location that the book lists (again, maybe I'm wrong here). It looks as though the image is just something 'similar', but not the actual thing. (for example, it talks about a farm overseas as one of the locations, but then the image to accompany it is just a typical red farmhouse). I was hoping to see actual images of the places they talk about in the book.*I only review products that I am genuinely interested in and have used, tested, tried. My opinion will always be 100% honest - if I love it, you'll know, if I don't, it will definitely reflect in my review. With that being said, I did receive this product for free in exchange for my honest review.*
I love short books that have nice photos and informative sections on places around the world, especially since I travel a lot.I have a few Speedy Publishing Books in my kindle library collection, and have really enjoyed them. But unfortunately, this book had a mix of reactions from me.There are facts throughout the pages followed with photos, some photos didn't match what was being talked about. Also, most of the wording is correct, but a lot of the facts are spelled and written wrong making them difficult to read and/or understand. Example: Cosa Rica (should be Costa Rica) , and some words are not separated.Pros:- Fun facts (the ones that were spelled correctly, and made sense)- Nice photos- Easy, and quick to readCons:- Lack of editing- Proofreading errors (if it had proofreading?)- Confusing facts, from the lack of editing and spelling errorsI would have been disappointed if I had paid for this, but I was able to receive this short book at no cost for my honest opinion and review.
I was disappointed with this e-book. The title of the book is very catching - popular places on the planet. My expectations are not that high but i'm expecting to be in awe when i open the page. The places were described in random. It could've helped if it was arranged by continent at least. There is a one sentence description of the place and a picture. My 11 year old daughter was looking for more. There were a lot of typographical error or grammar issues which concerns me letting my daughter read it. The photos were nice, however most photos do not even show the place it describes. This is very frustrating. This book is for people who love random facts about a place. Not for people who have travelled and have been to places they were describing. You will be disappointed at the accompanying photo and the description. Not very well thought-of, the editing is not good.I received this for free in exchange for my honest/unbiased review. y reviews are my personal opinion.
Disclaimer:I did receive this product for FREE for me to test and give my 100% honest truth and I will continue to give my 100% truth so that the shoppers and sellers of Amazon and other companies.Got this for my nephew on his 8th birthday along with a stomp rocket set, thinking that as he saw the rockets fly up in the air, maybe it might inspire him to want to learn about space. Well..... it was the other way around! As soon as he saw the full color images and the way the text was arranged for more informative and engaging reading, he devoured the book - reading up to page 35 on the first day - and was then inspired to go out and pretend his rocket was visiting the planets he'd just read about :)We will be buying more NatGeo Kids books for Christmas and are considering subscribing him to the monthly magazine if the photos, language and formatting are similar to what we've seen in this book. AWESOME book!!! I am definitely telling others about this amazing resource - perfect for 8 year olds!
