This was my favorite of this series and the best, in my opinion. So, I had to look at the one and two star reviews. I was surprised to see that there were any. One said that the characters lacked humor. Well, I don't know what book that person read, but I laughed throughout this book. Another said the story was disjointed "not very easy to decipher." Uhhh...what were they trying to decipher? It was a pretty straightforward story, not time-travel or flashbacks that might be confusing, just people going along linearly through time! I really enjoyed this book. Like I said, I laughed a lot as I read this book. The characters were intelligent, and I really liked that the female lead character just fell head over heals for Aulay and didn't even get mad at him when he revealed the truth. She was very understanding and also smart. The only thing that bothered me a little, and I don't recall seeing this much before in one of Lynsay's books, are the two anachronisms. One character was "red as a tomato." Well, tomatoes are a New Wold food, so a medieval English lady would not think of herself as red as a tomato. Also, the phrase "trussed up like a turkey" is used. Again, turkeys are a New World animal. Medieval Brits wouldn't know about turkeys. Other than those two things, I loved the book and highlighted a lot of funny parts on my Kindle!

Aulay has so much inner conflict it took away from the book. He second, third, and fourth guesses himself too much--it's understandable because he's so insecure about his looks. But the man let his brother get assaulted while he get's pissed and has an entire conversation with other people...then he let's his wife stay with the enemy while he has a conversation with his brothers about getting back too early, then decides on a plan to save his wife when he realized he kissed the enemy, then have another conversation with the multiple groups of people about peep holes (dude, your wife is with the enemy), then he remembers his wife and decides he will go himself to save her. DUDE, there were like 15 grown men who were all out smarted by the enemy...Aulay couldn't even trust his own clan (other than his brothers) to help him on his inquiries about who Jetta really is. He has one of his brother "watch" the injured maid Katie and Jordy...in the passages that have peep holes that the men is the family didn't know about...how the hell were they going to be watched? His logic is SOOOOO frustrating.Jetta is too innocent. She hits her head to many times to count within a week without any major issues. She's constantly being carried around because of said injuries...it just made the story unbelievable. Then there's the enemy...Sands took it too far and that's all I have to say about it.

Another hit with a highland romance by lynsay Sands. Not her best, not her worst, still highly enjoyable. I’m a big fan of Lynsay Sands and have read almost all of her books. This book compares with the better ones...though I can’t think of a bad one I’ve read either...after I read this one though, I did purchase the rest of the books in series I didn’t own for full price...if that says anything about how I enjoyed her book. I usually just wait til they go on sale because to me, $6.99-$7.99 is to much to pay for a kindle or ebook... I only pay full price if it’s one I know I will reread again and again. Very good series.

Predictably sweet and a lovely way to enjoy a summer day. I always like the style, if not the actual use of English language spoken by the characters! The acceptance of Auley who appears to be"damaged" by everyone, but our Etta, is a new twist. Loved the gentle, predictable story--always have, always will. Politics are crazy right now, so reading Lynsay Sands is a wonderful escape!

Jetta won my heart the moment she called Aulay her angel. What a wonderful couple that find love under unusual events. Their lives have been rough but together they find sometimes what seems bad could be a real gift.

As an avid reader I’m always looking for the next book to peak my interest. There are certain authors who I know, without question, will do that every time. Lyndsey Sands is one. No matter the timeline or genre I can be assured that her dialogue won’t feel stilted and the story will feel fresh. She always throws in a twist to keep the story interesting. The Highlanders Promise is a continuation of the story of the brothers Buchanan. This is Aulay’s story. He’s Laird if the clan and has a disability that ,he believes, will keep him single for life. Then he meets a woman who has lost her memory. But believes he is her husband. The fun and danger begins...

Aulay wanted a wide and children, but never thought that he would have them. His scar, down the center of his face, was his worst enemy. He was certain no-one could live so was surprised when the girl attached to a downed ships last floated practically on his shore. Thinking that she was dead, he was shocked when she opened her eyes and called him an angel.

Great book. I loved the characters and I love the humor. Lynsay sands historical are automatic buys especially this family. I love the interplay among the siblings. The reason for four stars is that the story just stopped. There was no epilogue so you were left with quite a few questions which was unusual is her books. Maybe there was a reason. Can't wait til the next one though.
