This story was beautiful. It had a little bit of everything. I enjoy this series so much. I couldn't put it down. Please continue with the great storytelling.
Isla McRae is living in Creede, Colorado and working at her brother’s restaurant. She fell in love in Scotland with a local boy, but his father had no use for her as she wasn’t from a well-connected and rich family like his. So Isla decided to leave Scotland with her siblings and head to America and out west for a better life.Asa Young is in the mining business and is the foreman of one of the local mines. He’s been in love with Isla for a couple years, but hasn’t had the nerve to ask her out or to tell her his feelings to see if she feels the same way. With the upcoming town celebration, he decides to take a chance and escort her to the celebration. As they start to spend more time together, they realize they both are attracted to each other. But Isla’s past is keeping her from expressing herself to Asa as she feels he will desert her as well. But then she realizes he’s the foreman of the mine and so he isn’t from money and he has been seen around town with her. So what happens when she finds out he’s not the foreman but also the owner of the mine as well? Will she change her mind and not see him again so she doesn’t get her heart broken twice.Can these two overcome their pasts and their heartbreak and learn to love each other. Will Isla’s Angel mom help her to see what she is missing out on if she lets Asa go?I enjoyed this story. It shows that even though you have gone through heartache, you can open your heart up a second time to love. I’m looking forward to seeing how the cousins make out in their search for husbands. I recommend this book.
Isla MacRae has sworn off love after being lead on by a man at home in Scotland, then told she's not good enough by his father just before he married another. Now in Creede with her remaining family, she is the only one still unwed.Asa Young secretly owns the mine where he acts as foreman and is very taken with Isla. But while she is friendly with him, she hasn't truly noticed his interest, nor truthfully her own in him.Mam MacRae promised four nearly destitute girls, cousins from good families, that if they followed her to Creede, she would find them husbands. Then she appears to Isla, enlisting her help with the task. Protecting the most delicate of the girls from an unscrupulous man leads Asa to believe she isn't interested, but when she explains, he understands what had truly happened. Trouble comes their way when he admits he owns his mine, and Isla fears he'll break her heart like the man in Scotland had. Then work their way through that dilemma, but then the rains come... hard.
I love this series and this book is another family reunion in more ways than one. After 36 books the citizens of Creede and Bachelor are family and Mama M visiting her daughter, Isla, is definitely appropriate. I love the descriptions of Mam and her interactions with the family. Jo Noelle has managed to bring us a story with romance, humor, strong story line and a few twists. A totally enjoyable book. I hope I don't keep my guardian angel as busy as the people of Creede do theirs.
Reading about how their Mam became their guardian angel made this family of books so enjoyable! I am so glad Isla finally found her happily ever after!Jo Noelle books are superbly written, sometimes amusing, always heartfelt. I highly recommend this book!
I loved watching Isla and Asa, with the fun help of Mama M, work though their self imposed restraints and find where they are supposed to be! This story kept me reading from beginning to end, without putting it down!!! Truly a great read!!
This book was so good, it was fun , scarey, and exciting. Asa and Isla were wonderful, the mama took care of everyone. I think She was the best. Thank you. Jo Noelle.
